The Foundation’s office at the Healthcare Center is staffed by Blanca Bishop, a bilingual counselor. Many people in the Town face hurdles such as financial difficulties, immigration status, learning a language, adjusting to life in a new country far from family and friends, getting access to insurance or timely medical treatment.
Blanca is a shining example of our mission in action. Every day, her work includes:
ensuring that all patients have timely access to medical care regardless of their ability to pay
assisting those who qualify for Medicaid, Medicare, Affordable Care Act insurance and other county and state health insurance programs to fill out the paperwork
deciphering invoices received from various hospitals for services
helping patients complete applications for reductions to invoices wherever possible
